Assign a person to a role
An assignment records that a specific person currently fills a specific role. Assignments are how you can answer “who’s our First Aider on Wednesdays?” in two clicks.
Steps from the role side
Section titled “Steps from the role side”- From the sidebar, open Roles.
- Open the target role.
- Switch to the Assignments tab.
- Click + Assignment.
- Pick the person.
- Tick Primary if this person is the main holder of the role. Each role has at most one primary.
- Save.
Steps from the person side
Section titled “Steps from the person side”You can also start from a person and add the role:
- From the sidebar, open People.
- Open the target person.
- Switch to the Roles tab (or Assignments in some layouts).
- Click + Assignment and pick the role.
Either direction creates the same record.
Primary vs secondary
Section titled “Primary vs secondary”- Primary — the main holder. There can only be one primary per role at a time.
- Secondary — backups, deputies, or anyone else who can fill the role.
The dashboard’s compliance overview reports primary coverage separately from secondary, so you can spot a role with secondaries but no primary.
How requirements interact
Section titled “How requirements interact”If the role has training requirements (set on its Requirements tab), assigning a person without the matching enrollments doesn’t fail — it produces a gap. The role’s detail page shows the gap, and the Compliance Overview on the dashboard rolls those gaps up.
To clear a gap, enrol the person in the course.
