Cross-link related items
Cross-linking is what turns isolated rows into an evidence trail. Every detail page has a Related tab; that’s where the links live.
- Open any entity’s detail page (hazard, incident, action, inspection, document, role, person, etc.).
- Switch to the Related tab.
- Click + Add related.
- Pick the type — Hazard, Incident, Action, Inspection, or Document (depending on what’s allowed for the source entity).
- Either:
- Search for an existing entity and select it; or
- Click Create new to add a fresh entity inline (the standard wizard opens).
- Save.
The link is bidirectional. The other entity now shows your starting entity in its Related tab too.
Allowed link types
Section titled “Allowed link types”Not every link makes sense. SteadyOn restricts the type pickers per entity:
| From | Can link to |
|---|---|
| Hazard | Incidents, Actions, Inspections, Documents |
| Incident | Hazards, Actions, Documents |
| Action | Hazards, Incidents, Inspections, Documents |
| Inspection | Hazards, Actions, Documents |
| Document | Anything that can attach a doc |
The dropdown only shows what’s allowed.
Why bother
Section titled “Why bother”- From an inspector or auditor’s view — clicking from an inspection’s failed item to the action it raised, then to the hazard the action addresses, is the fastest way to demonstrate a managed safety programme.
- From your view — the hazard register tells you “this hazard has 3 incidents and 2 open actions” at a glance.
- From a regulator’s view — when WorkSafe asks about a notifiable event, the audit trail clicks all the way through.
Removing a link
Section titled “Removing a link”To unlink:
- Open the Related tab.
- On the linked card, click the kebab menu (⋯) → Unlink.
- Confirm.
The link is removed from both sides. Neither entity is deleted.
