Change a member's role
Members’ roles aren’t fixed. As people change responsibilities (e.g. someone becomes your H&S officer, or steps down from the role), update them in Settings.
- From the sidebar bottom dock, click Organisation Settings.
- Open the Members tab.
- Find the member in the list.
- Click the kebab menu (⋯) next to their name → Change role.
- Pick the new role.
- Save.
The change is effective immediately. The member doesn’t need to sign out and back in.
Who can change roles
Section titled “Who can change roles”- Owners can change anyone’s role, including other owners.
- Admins can promote a member to admin and demote an admin to member. Admins cannot make someone an owner — that’s an owner-only action.
- Members can’t change roles.
Edge cases
Section titled “Edge cases”- Demoting yourself. You can demote yourself from owner to admin, or admin to member, but not if you’re the only owner — there must always be at least one owner. Promote someone else first, then demote yourself.
- The “no admins” state. A member-only org is fine — every owner can still do everything. There’s no requirement to have admins.
