Change a member's role

Members’ roles aren’t fixed. As people change responsibilities (e.g. someone becomes your H&S officer, or steps down from the role), update them in Settings.

  1. From the sidebar bottom dock, click Organisation Settings.
  2. Open the Members tab.
  3. Find the member in the list.
  4. Click the kebab menu (⋯) next to their name → Change role.
  5. Pick the new role.
  6. Save.

The change is effective immediately. The member doesn’t need to sign out and back in.

  • Owners can change anyone’s role, including other owners.
  • Admins can promote a member to admin and demote an admin to member. Admins cannot make someone an owner — that’s an owner-only action.
  • Members can’t change roles.
  • Demoting yourself. You can demote yourself from owner to admin, or admin to member, but not if you’re the only owner — there must always be at least one owner. Promote someone else first, then demote yourself.
  • The “no admins” state. A member-only org is fine — every owner can still do everything. There’s no requirement to have admins.
