Add a training course

A training course is a piece of training that a person might complete (CPR, working at heights, manual handling). Each course carries a default validity period so SteadyOn knows when an enrollment expires.

  1. From the sidebar, open Training.
  2. Click + Training course. The wizard opens.
  3. Fill in:
    • TitleWorkplace First Aid (CPR + AED).
    • Description — provider, level, what it covers.
    • Default validity (months) — how long the certification is good for. SteadyOn uses this to compute expiry on enrollments.
  4. Save.

Common NZ training validity periods:

CourseDefault validity
Workplace First Aid24 months
Working at Heights24 months
Forklift OSH licenceOngoing (set as no expiry)
Confined space entry24–36 months
Manual handling24 months (varies by employer)

Don’t take this list as gospel — confirm with your provider for the specific course you’re tracking.

For courses that don’t expire (e.g. an OSH forklift licence is held for life unless surrendered):

  • Leave Default validity blank.
  • On each enrollment, leave the expiry date blank too.

The enrollment’s BRAG stays blue (“not applicable”) instead of tracking expiry.

Make it a requirement on roles that need it (see Add a role → Requirements tab), and enrol people in it as they complete training.
