Add a new document version
Documents change. Policies are revised, SDS sheets are updated by the supplier, evacuation plans get a new diagram. SteadyOn keeps the old version alongside the new one so you can show what was current at any past point.
- Open the document.
- From the kebab menu (⋯), click Upload new version.
- Pick the new file.
- Optionally add a version note (“Revised after April 2026 walkthrough — added new mezzanine area”).
- Save.
The new file becomes the current version. The old one slips into the Versions tab on the detail page.
What’s tracked per version
Section titled “What’s tracked per version”- Filename and size.
- Who uploaded it and when (snapshotted, like all audit metadata).
- The version note, if you added one.
You can download any old version from the Versions tab.
When to version vs replace
Section titled “When to version vs replace”- Version up when the document’s purpose hasn’t changed and an inspector might one day want to see the historical text.
- Replace (delete + new) when the old document was wrong (typo in the title, completely wrong file uploaded). Edit the title / description in place; only re-upload to clear genuine errors.
