Add a new document version

Documents change. Policies are revised, SDS sheets are updated by the supplier, evacuation plans get a new diagram. SteadyOn keeps the old version alongside the new one so you can show what was current at any past point.

  1. Open the document.
  2. From the kebab menu (⋯), click Upload new version.
  3. Pick the new file.
  4. Optionally add a version note (“Revised after April 2026 walkthrough — added new mezzanine area”).
  5. Save.

The new file becomes the current version. The old one slips into the Versions tab on the detail page.

  • Filename and size.
  • Who uploaded it and when (snapshotted, like all audit metadata).
  • The version note, if you added one.

You can download any old version from the Versions tab.

  • Version up when the document’s purpose hasn’t changed and an inspector might one day want to see the historical text.
  • Replace (delete + new) when the old document was wrong (typo in the title, completely wrong file uploaded). Edit the title / description in place; only re-upload to clear genuine errors.
